An early-ish bird special and an autumnal Saturday foray into the immersive sound worlds of two disparate Belgian characters messing with the possibilities of self-amplification ~ Kiara Govaert sending signals through random gadgetry and Pierre Berthet's iconic movings of vacuum and objects in motion. Kiara Govaert
Antwerpian multifaçade artist Kiara Govaert ~ also one half of Liegenaar and the newest member of De Klok ~ experiments with speakers and trinkets in unforeseen ways. Using feedback loops with speakers and microphones and adding field recordings of natural and temperamental origins, she creates sonic lullabies that resound in their feral containment.
Pierre Berthet
Last spotted on a KRAAK program ten years ago, iconic Belgian post-percussionist Pierre Berthet creates sound oeuvres that lie somewhere between performed installation and one-man orchestra. Since 1990, he has been designing and creating sonic experiences tailored to each venue where they are presented: vacuum cleaners, pendulums, and motorized plants are just some of the many objects he sets off into a hypnotic musical journey of unpredictable outcome.
