BOUWSEL BLASTS

De Mond & Floris Vanhoof (BE), Heta Bilaletdin (FI), Quanta Qualia (BE), Bosse Provoost & Ezra Veldhuis installation

Elemental building blocks collide in this new collaborative excursion by KRAAK & De Koer, where music, installation and performance find common ground around a concept of fundamental value. For this first edition of Bouwsel Blasts, four acts of different artistic persuasions incorporate the theme of light into their respective processes, to startling and gawk-worthy effect.

De Mond & Floris Vanhoof

The unruly child of Arno Debock and Stijn “KRAMP” Wybouw comes to flickering action alongside Floris Vanhoof’s madcap light effects ~ De Mond/Vanhoof peaks on its own high energy with drummertronics chaos exploding into strobe madness. Not for the faint of heart, ear, or eyes, but worth the pain nevertheless.

Heta Bilaletdin

Hot off her latest Euroventures, Heta Bilaletdin (Myttys, Olimpia Splendid) brings her mutant mumbles, dissonant samples and thudding bass lines to Ghent, alongside her trademark kaleidoscopic visuals which give form to her deconstructed dub. Like an unfolding installation that could go any which way, above earth or underwater, but always with the airy trippiness of a vibey gestalt.

Quanta Qualia

Siet Raeymaekers and Tomas Dittborn of Nonlocal Research have been blowing hats off with their Quanta Qualia entanglement for the past decade or so. A total merging of artistic souls and practices where sound, light, costume, and dance come together in indescribable unity, where abstract soundscapes and gestural storytelling are enhanced by artifacts of ad hoc worldbuilding. Speculative playtime abounds!

Bosse Provoost & Ezra Veldhuis installation

Bosse Provost & Ezra Veldhuis have been creating interplays of theater, performance and installation art for the past six years, generating environments verging on the liminal. Semi-human figures and metatheatric subtleties populate their poetic force fields, immersing and energizing those who find themselves within.
