A second collab with Brussels' darlingest (and most prolific) avant-garde label two years after the last Futura Resistenzatron at Au Kalme <3 This time KRAAK & FR join forces with AB and Volta to throw together a dual release party for the upcoming record newness: on the Futura side, the inane piano thumping poetry of Antwerpian icons Jeugdbrand, while on the KRAAK side a new opus natura by Roxane Métayer, with the whole colossus flanked by the strange French post-rock improvisations of HHWYUIOD. Sonic mysteries and their derivatives contained within a disused fridge space, which will all make sense when you get there.

HWYUIOD
HWYUIOD are Shelter (Alan Briand), Orion (Tom Val), and Thomas Riguelle. Their debut album, recorded over two afternoons in November 2023 at Studio 121 and released on the Les Disques Omnison label, features four long improvisations influenced by krautrock, fourth world, post-punk, and free jazz. In the words of Maximilien (Oedipe Purple), it's an "ageless scene that draws on noise, German rock, pioneering techno and more, a non-jazz of scholars who forget everything to perpetuate a purifying ritual... Away from the machine to rediscover a little magic at your fingertips.”
Jeudgbrand
Jeugdbrand is the dramatic, playful improv-combo of Dennis Tyfus (piano, guitar) and Jeroen Stevens (percussion and other instruments). Their latest work, 3 x hullo, hullo (released by Futura Resistenza), is a collection of fragmented snapshots within which strange sentences and musical ideas clash. It is a series of disjointed sketches, in which emotions shift rapidly and the ride is anything but smooth. Boomkat previously described the duo as " dramatic and eccentric... Tyfus is at his best here, gasping and moaning as if he were entirely isolated, while Steven’s random organ sounds over slow-moving, sustained drones".
Roxane Métayer
Roxane Métayer is a French musician and artist based in Brussels. Straddling the space between folk and experimental music, her project consists of sound recordings made in nature, violin, wind instruments, percussion, and her own voice. Her albums have been released by Kraak, Morc, Primordial Void, Wabi-Sabi tapes, Marionnette Label and Matière Mémoire. Her upcoming LP Chêne will be out on Kraak May 15!
