KRAAK x Infant Tree

Caius Williams (UK), Florence Cats (BE), Regan Bowering (UK), Rory Salter (UK)

A collab evening with the London-based label run by Rory Salter, whose output brings together the simple and the weird in many different packages. From sparse field recordings suspended like aural sculptures to free-form explorations with self-made instruments and discordant sound waves, Rory's instincts as curator and musician are refreshing reminders that the grounds for experimentation are vast and fertile. For this Infant Tree carte blanche, he presents foraged samples of this ever-expanding landscape amid the Cheminéean bushes, with sets that melt and flow into each other like waves off the Channel rocks.

Caius Williams

Whether it is by collaborating with the likes of Tara Cunningham or Theodora Laird, staying in and phone-recording some solo improvs with his (bass) guitar or double bass, or programming experimental acts for the GRAIN shows at Avalon cafe, this Londoner always cooks up something adventurous and flavors it with unique vibrations from the truest of places.

Florence Cats

Florence Cats's nebulous output is created by intricate interactions between prepared theremin, voice and recordings from unearthly fields. Her acoustic fog holds sounds so sweet they become razor-sharp, with which the Brussels-based sound artist and acupuncturist will easily needle her way in with the Brits, whilst sewing up the Channel with her experimental waves.

Regan Bowering

When Regan Bowering's debut LP on Infant Tree A Technology of Feeling came into the world a couple of months ago, a need to experience this feedbacked stuff in the flesh simultaneously emerged; a tension that has been growing ever since, and which may or may not be released at La Cheminée. In any case, both the audience and their surroundings will never get rid of the goosebumps that her haunting percussions will have left on the skin.

Rory Salter

Many a moniker (Malvern Brume, The Sprigs, Lone Capture Library…) has been used, many a music has been made by the Infant Tree label head, who will shed his alters and perform for the Cheminéeans as Rory Salter. With the precision of a sound engineer but with spirit of an infant, the musician and performance artist turns instruments, loops, field recordings, poetry and drones into sound collages that seem rough and bleak from afar yet hopeful and familiar up-close. Hard-to-define music for hard times.
