KRAAK Fest prep in full swing, new releases and an emotional twist, ripped straight from the newsletter :')
You may have noticed it's our first hollering of the year and in months ~ we didn’t give up just yet! Times have been hard in this small constellation of ours, as loss and the changes that come with it have impacted the daily workings and immediate dreams of this little KRAAKfam. Perspective is important as the world blazes here and everywhere; at the end of the day, dreams are the impulse that keeps us going, even through the murkiest of times. Together is how we do it, and together is how we’ll hopefully be, as our own little family and as part of a larger something of which you, the reader & listener, is also part of. Despite the bleakness of times, we’re grateful for this existence that we’ve been granted, and we thank you for supporting always, in ways you know and don’t know. Without further cryptoramblings, here’s what we’re in for:
KRAAK FESTIVAL 2024 BE HAPPENING
In less that three weeks! See us back in our Scheldian woods March 2, 2024 for a new edition of KRAAK Festival at Het Bos, Antwerp. For these deeply transformative times, deeply transformative music: new age healing, raw punk screeching, disorienting techno weirdings, the screaming of scorched amps and the incipient soundings of the minuscule and the unseen ~ elements of a larger whole that will fall into place during this one-day venture into the backwoods of sonic vibrancy.

BUT BEFORE THAT: WARMING UP AT WAV
Wednesday 28/02 is our yearly pre-Fest pre-party at Bosbar with We Are Various. After last year’s future old timey trip with Chien Fer, now it’s two of KRAAK fest most luminous alumni: Leeds alien rock mindmelt duo Guttersnipe hot on their 10-year anniversary tour and tune selections/hypeman feats by Antwerpian flylord Zoot Ruf Ski. Free entrance and from 8pm onwards, also listeneable online on the WAV waves. More info here!!
NEW RELEASE ALERT: MARIA BERTEL & NINA GARCIA - KNÆKKET SMILL
OUT FEB 27:: Maria Bertel & Nina Garcia KNÆKKET SMIL ~ a co-release with No Lagos Musique & Otomatik Muziek ✨ Experimental noise guitarist Nina Garcia and Danish trombone virtuoso Maria Bertel have teamed up to create a heavy-hitting, collaborative record that pushes the boundaries between extreme improvisation and harsh noise ~ a testament to the raw and emotive power of a shared practice in mutual listening, reacting and merging. As radically tender as lovers exploring each other‘s scars! First look & preorders over at our Bandcamp, they'll be at KRAAK FESTIVAL 2024 too!!
ODDS & ENDS FOR THE SAKE OF IT
- Because really there’s not much of odds & endings happening: a lot of archival uploading on the radio front is still on the To-Do list, so for now tuning into the live thing is the main way to connect with our voices/vibes. To that end, we’ll be starting the KRAAK FEST RADIO ROUNDS this week!

- New old stuff on the ‘Tube, check it out!!! Radio Hito and Rump State in gr’Ambacht, Anotyne and Arlette in Publiek Park, and more maybe coming??
- And let’s give some love to our latest releases which went un-newslettered: Bear Bones, Lay Low’s 4th LP on our label, Ideas Flotantes, has been subtly infiltrating psyches and record players all around, getting much love at the recent Schiev record fair! And the unlikely transcontinental mythmaking collab that is Frituuur Aconcagua has been making some serious rounds, even getting the Bandcamp daily treatment 😱 Both these releases are available but, at this rate, not for long ~ grip them while you can on our Bandcamp or at a KRAAK show near you!
