A Tribute to Jacques Beckaert

Published on the occasion of the tribute to Jacques Bekaert organized by KRAAK and BOZAR CINEMA at the Centre for Fine Arts, Brussels, 8 November 2013.

Jacques Bekaert is a Belgian-born composer, currently living in Bankok. Ever since the seventies he is related to an American / International school of composers and friends that include great minds such as David Behrman, Robert Ashley, David Rosenboom and Takehisa Kosugi. Bekaert studied at the APELAC Studios with Henri Pousseur, befriended John Cage and Henri Chopin and composed for a.o. Thomas Buckner. His homeland seems to slowly forget about this great composer.
