What kind of a band do you see YOR as? A post-punk band? A no wave band?
Yes post-punk, yes no wave! We happily take all suggestions for genres!
Lately I tend to say YOR is a punk band. Not necessarily regarding our music, but more the idea behind it…I don’t believe in genres so much and somehow find it paradoxical that no wave or post-punk now work as terms for genres even though they arose to neglect exactly these.
YOR is a new experimental delicate country hop hip roller coaster punk trio.
What am I listening to when I listen to your 7"?
You are listening to Y O R L O V E, the yin and the yang, like a circle made out of a pickle and a banana, sour and sweet, crisp and tender, rough and smooth, earth and air, dirt and shine...
When you are listening to this 7" you are listening to all three of us at the same time.
Right.
When you listen to our 7“ you hopefully feel that you are alright!
Why a 7"?
A 7" is simple and nice.
To be honest, Pauwel asked us if we wanted to do a 7“ and we agreed. Plus the format fits the number of songs we’ve got unreleased at that point, more or less. We decided to pack as many songs on it as possible.
What does YOR stand for?
YOR stands for anything you or we want it to stand for…it can mean “your”, “Yes!”, “you’re”, “yours”, “joa”.
Joa?
That's kind of a gap filler word…
I see. How did you get to know each other?
We met through friends we have in common in the summer of 2016. Nataly then had a gig arranged at a small performance festival in Leipzig and asked Toni and me if we wanted to join her. That was 10 days before the gig when we decided to be a band. For Toni and me, YOR is the first band we play in.
I would say it was destiny, or maybe just a cosmic coincidence, an atomic fusion with magnetic eruptions and new constellations.
What do the three of you have in common, you think? And what are the differences?
We have too many differences to name, but also we are three times the same person.
What do you remember about your concert at the KRAAK festival last year?
Oh, it was great fun! First it was a bit hard to manage not getting totally wasted and to stay awake till 5. Once I found the right combination of beverages, I really enjoyed the night. This way I could see almost all of the acts playing.
As you said, YOR played at 5 in the morning. How many people were there?
Twenty-seven.
Who are the people who are at a concert at 5 in the morning?
The very best people came out to make 5am a good time.
How were the reactions?
I was positively surprised by how attentively people were listening…
People who are at a concert at 5 in morning, are those people who get up early or people who stayed up all night?
I guess that most of the people at the concert stayed awake till 5 and didn’t sleep, which I´d say contributed in a good way.
